Learning Center

Learning Center

The Learning Center is open from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and will be staffed by our experienced group leaders and tutors from Big Brothers Big Sisters. Students receive breakfast and lunch through our partnership with The Source and The Indian River County School District.

Due to COVID-19, half of our students are being schooled virtually from home. However, they are struggling due to poor Internet and limited adult supervision. Our children are falling behind academically and will continue to do so if they do not receive community support.

Learning Centers are opening across the country to meet a similar need, but this will be the first of its kind in Indian River County. Stringent safety precautions will be adhered to including sanitization stations, social distancing, temperature checks, limited group sizes, and a mandatory mask policy. Students will benefit from an intimate teacher-to-student ratio and will be limited to 24 students within our facility at one time.

Youth Guidance will continue its nightly programming from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Currently, Youth Guidance is providing academic tutoring, S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), and exciting new life skills and vocational programs. These include cooking, sewing, bike repair, cosmetology, boat mechanics, gardening, and karate. One-on-one and group mentoring programs will be offered virtually and in-person, adhering to CDC guidelines with temperature checks, limited group sizes, and a mandatory mask policy.
