‘King of Hill’ tourney still reigns supreme for local tennis pros

January 6, 2024: The 29th Annual King of the Hill Tennis Tournament benefitting Youth Guidance will bring together tennis professionals throughout the Treasure Coast to compete for the coveted King of the Hill Title.

Youth Guidance Pre-Apprenticeship Program Teaches Skilled Trades to Indian River County Young Adults

December 19, 2023: Now in its third year, the Youth Guidance Pre-Apprenticeship Program introduces Indian River County young adults to five trades, including carpentry, electric, plumbing, HVAC, and welding. The program is the only one of its kind in Indian River County.

November 10, 2023: The Quail Valley River Club was the ideal setting for the 46th annual Tropical Night Luau to benefit the Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy. Youth Guidance is celebrating its 50th year providing mentoring and skills training to enrollees ages 6 to 24, some of whom happily described their involvement.

Make It a Double! Van Deinse Nets 2nd ‘King of Hill’ Tennis Title

April 6, 2023: James Van Deinse of the Vero Beach Tennis and Fitness Club emerged victorious in the 28th annual King of the Hill Tennis Tournament to benefit the Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy. This is the second KOTH title for Van Deinse, who previously won in 2017.

January 5, 2023: As it enters its 50th anniversary year, the Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy is embarking upon a $1.5 million Capital Campaign to turn its 62-year-old building into a state-of-the-art facility to house its mentoring, life skills and workforce development programs.

Youth Guidance Receives $47,924 Grant From John’s Island Foundation

December 28, 2022: Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy was awarded a $47,924 grant from the John’s Island Foundation to acquire a brand new, 15-passenger van. The van, purchased from Dyer Chevrolet in Vero Beach, is being used daily to transport Indian River County children from local schools to Youth Guidance, where they receive a healthy meal and participate in afterschool mentoring programs.
