Volunteer

Change Lives. Volunteer.

It Takes a Village to Raise a Child.

Volunteers are an integral part of everything we do at Youth Guidance. Each year, 60-70 volunteers work directly with our children in one-on-one and group settings.

Volunteer roles include (but are not limited to):

  • Helping children with homework
  • Serving meals
  • Becoming a One-on-One Mentor
  • Assisting with one of our events.

Four Types of Volunteer Opportunities

Group Mentor

Group Mentors help Youth Guidance staff implement Group Mentoring programs and assist with serving meals after school and during the summer.

Time Commitment: 1 hour per week or more.

One-on-One Mentor

A One-on-One Mentor is matched with a child and together they spend time setting goals, having fun, and gaining new experiences.

Time Commitment: 8 hours per month or more.

Presenter

A presenter teaches a Group Mentoring Program over an eight-week semester. A staff is always in the classroom when a presenter is teaching.

Time Commitment: 2 to 5 hours per week.

Guest Speaker

Guest speakers have knowledge in a particular field and share it with our children in the form of a single presentation or activity.

Time Commitment: Less than 1 hour per week.
